New Paris themed jewellery on the website

Oh and I was doing so well at the beginning of the year with blogging and then, well....

So here we are again and what have I been up to all summer?

I redesigned the website, giving it a slightly more contemporary look whilst retaining the vintage style colour scheme. There's a snazzy new sliding photo banner on the homepage to give a quick look at the different collections available.
I've also been making lots of new things to supply the Ship of Adventures shop, planning a wholesale range for other shops, doing my annual summer fete stall (in the pouring rain with a gazebo that broke, let's not dwell on that day!) and of course constantly designing and making new jewellery for my website and Etsy shop.

This week I have designed and made some new Paris themed jewellery. With a base of antique bronze charms and chain and coloured with glass beads in shades of purple there are matching necklace, bracelet and earrings in the collection. You can find them in the Vintage section on the website here.

News from Pirate Treasures!

Ahem, it's been a while (again) hasn't it?! My excuse this time is that I've been decorating non-stop for what seems like forever. I'll blog about that soon, with photographic evidence, when it's all finished.
Apart from painting, painting and more painting, I have opened a shop on Etsy at last. I've been intending to do it for a year, since leaving Folksy, so now it's done. I only opened it at the weekend so it isn't fully stocked yet, but I had a sale very quickly so that's good news!
At the moment there is some Day of the Dead inspired jewellery, steampunk jewellery and vintage inspired Paris charm jewellery in the shop. I will of course be adding more as soon as I can.

The website has some cool new jewellery too. I have been using some more of the charms I bought in the summer to make things like hot air balloon necklaces
and octopus earrings. These can be found in the Steampunk and Vintage sections on the website.

I have also been making some more Day of the Dead jewellery for the website, which is in the Contemporary jewellery section. I recently bought some glass chilli pepper charms, so have been adding them to the designs, along with some sugar skull beads I made myself from polymer clay and decorated with acrylic paints.

I'd better get back to painting the walls and leave you with a promise that I'll blog again within the next month!!

Challenge 52 - Week 7 - more Pirates!

Yes I know I haven't done a post called 'Week 6', but that was the Folksy Friday I did last week, my Challenge to myself was to try and do one Folksy Friday a month...let's see how far I get with that!

The last week or so has been really busy...

My brother and his family moved into a house 10 minutes walk from mine - he had been working abroad for 9 years, met his wife there and they have two small children. So that was a major event! I, Mr Treasures and my parents spent a lot of time going backwards & forwards to the house (which they had been renting out since buying it a couple of years ago) getting it as ready as possible for their return. Then we had to be there when they arrived from Heathrow Airport as they didn't have any keys themselves! Luckily it's been sunny up until today, so they have had a nice welcome and a chance to walk around and get to know the area. 

This week it was my birthday, which has meant cake and Chinese food in between a trip to the gym - yes even on my birthday, have to keep up the twice a week as much as possible!

Then we went to see my daughter's AS Level play for Theatre Studies - Berkoff's interpretation of Kafka's The Trial, so confusing but well done!

Thursday we went to see Pirates of the Caribbean - On Stranger Tides. Well obviously it was really good, though I'm not sure I enjoyed it as much as the previous films, but Captain Jack Sparrow was his usual character!

So guess what? I've been making more pirate jewellery for the website! I have also been making a few different styles of designs for my Folksy shop, but finding the time has been a Challenge!

One a Day - Days 25-29

Yes I did watch Twilight! I made a bag charm and a choker necklace...I hadn't used crystal glaze to cover pictures before, so it took a couple of goes - the first one had an air bubble I couldn't get rid of. Anyway, the end result is OK and I'm sure will improve the more I do. The words 'be safe' are written in Edward Cullen's handwriting font - you'll have to read the book if you don't know already!

Day 27 was a multi-strand bracelet. Day 28 a bracelet with white catseye beads, silver beads and beadcaps. Day 29 (yesterday) I made myself a Pandora style necklace just on black 2mm cotton cord - I have a bracelet with the same beads so made it to match.
